About Us

Focus on Present to impact the Future

Future Scapes Inc (501c3) mission is to embrace our role and responsibility in shaping the demand for urban communities that
are more prosperous, resilient, and equitable. The Organization facilitates 2 programs:

A mentor and career path program - Neighborhood Revitalization Youth Consortium (NRYC) will select Junior and Senior High School Students from the geographical area described above. These students will have a curiosity and a passion to be involved in revitalizing their communities. Through a network of Future Scapes industry contacts and volunteers, students learn about the expansive opportunities in the built environment and land development arenas. Each autumn, NRYC students will gather at a summit to define and inspire their entrepreneurial, career, or public service journeys through actual or simulated real estate redevelopment projects. The program also includes a summer work experience situated between their junior and senior years of college. Throughout their involvement, students will have the opportunity to participate in an ongoing speaker series, providing access to a network of esteemed leaders.

With its Neighborhood Urban Re-developers (NURD)program, Future Scapes will provide knowledge, market research, and technical assistance resources, to structurally prepare participants to re-imagine blighted urban neighborhoods in small and large communities. NURDs will be incentivized to implement urban infill projects, innovative urban developments for intergenerational housing, placing vacant or underutilized properties back into productive use. Future Scapes aims to equip NURDs with the knowledge, market research, and technical assistance necessary to effectively repurpose vacant or underutilized properties. NURD participants will engage with communities within the project areas to gain local knowledge and cultivate stakeholder support. NURD is already assisting the owners of property positioned with historic preservation, visioning for redevelopment and applying for brownstone remediation.
